Overview
In this research study, the researchers looked at where lacrosse players were hit during practices and games. The researchers used the X2 Biosystem’s xPatch to measure where the hits occurred as well as videotaping the practices and games They found that the players were hit on the side 41% of the time and in the front 37% of the time.
The researchers also noted that this type of information is important because side impacts have been suggested to lead to more concussions. This study, in particular, did not have a very large sample while only researching 11 players in total. However, it could signal to future researchers where to look because of these results.
